I haven't updated you all in a while, there was a lot going on after our first IVF cycle. We got pregnant then miscarried at 8 weeks and I had an ERPC to remove the pregnancy. Since then we have been waiting to see a doctor for a follow up appointment and then for my first period since the miscarriage. When we saw the doctor she suggested to have a test called " Natural Killer cell testing". This is not funded on the NHS and is completely optional. The test is similar to a smear and they test the lining of your uterus around ovulation time. You have to take ovulation tests to see when you are ovulating and then contact them and they will get you in straight away. I think but don't quote me on this that you already have some level of natural killer cells in your body to fight of infection however if you have a high level of these they treat a pregnancy like it is a foreign body or an infection and they try to kill it off. These natural killer cells are the cause of multiple miscarriages or implantation problems.
I was going back and forth on whether I was going to go ahead with the test which costs £360. When we went for our information session with the nurse which is where she goes through the Frozen cycle protocol and gives you all your drugs and syringes. She said to me " If you have the choice to give your self the best chance of getting pregnant and having a successful pregnancy why not take it, you will never forgive yourself if you don't have the test and then later down the line finding out you have it and could potential prevent another miscarriage" It really made me think, She's totally right!
We are now waiting for me to ovulate hopefully next week and then when my next cycle begins end of July early August we will start our Frozen Embryo Cycle!
Thank you again for reading and if you are going through similar I hope this helps in some way.
